Life as a mom who has her hands full

Finding Minutes

Okay, so each time I find a way to entertain my children and get some time to myself, I will post it. These tips will probably also be archived somewhere on my website, but until then I will store them here. Feel free to use them and please let me know how they worked for you. Also, post any tips that you use regularly to occupy your children so you can get things done. I am trying desperately to limit the amount of T.V. they watch and while it is easier said than done, I believe it is very important.

Yesterday, my 3 year old daughter was moping around the house..obviously bored. She was whining (which I hate!) and I needed 30 minutes to cook dinner. Then it hit me. I handed her a new sponge and a couple of small paint brushes, filled up the water table in the back and instructed her to “clean” the deck. Immediately excited, she went to work, “painting” the deck with water and cleaning it with the sponge. She felt like she had a very important job to do and it easily bought me 30 minutes of “whine free” time! When my husband came home she proudly boasted that she cleaned his deck for him. Easy, cheap and T.V.free!! Try it and let me know if your child love it too! Best part is that in 30 minutes the deck was dry again from the heat and ready to be “painted” and “cleaned” some more!!
