Life as a mom who has her hands full

Baby’s 6 month Developmental Milestones

My youngest is 6 months old and I have been reading about all the developmental milestones he should be doing. Luckily he is doing all of these things and is right on target. If your child is lagging behind, try not to panic. All babies progress at different rates. Developmental markers are merely meant to be used as a guide and you should always consult your pediatrician if you are concerned about your child’s development. But here are a few things you should look for.

  • Your baby should be laughing and cooing
  • He/she should make eye contact, track objects, and get excited about seeing familiar faces
  • Vowel sounds become present
  • Reaching for and grabbing objects within view
  • Can roll over and back (although not necessarily consistent at times)
  • May be able to sit up with minimal help
  • Teething may be beginning
